The Workshop
Consciousness-in-Action
An Integral Approach to Transformation
A workshop with Raúl Quiñones-Rosado, PhD
How do we tackle the urgent problems of our day and discover strength, hope and possibility along the way? How do we address issues of race, gender, culture and nation, and still emerge more united in an otherwise divided society and fragmented world? How do we honor our personal uniqueness, our cultural differences, and our spiritual oneness as we work together toward our collective well-being and full human development?
In this workshop, Raúl Quiñones-Rosado introduces key concepts and principles of consciousness-in-action — an integrative approach to personal and social change. Drawing from psychology, social theory, integral studies, contemplative practice, and years of work in communities-of-struggle, he offers an overview of an integral developmental framework, shares a psychosocial analysis of the impact of identity-based power, and proposes a liberatory-transformative praxis for change in the context of oppression, arguably the greatest obstacle to human well-being and development.
Topics introduced include:
- An Integral Model of Well-Being
- Personal and Social Identity Development
- The Forces that Hinder
- Consciousness-in-Action
Based on the book, Consciousness-in-Action: Toward an Integral Psychology of Liberation & Transformation by Dr. Quiñones-Rosado, this workshop will be particularly useful to organizers, activists, educators, students, helping professionals, leaders, and others interested in change, development and transformation at any levels.
