Who’s RQR

Raúl Quiñones Rosado, PhD, is an educator, organizer, and change consultant. He teaches, guides and trains others in the principles and practices of his consciousness-in-action approach. Through his workshops, presentations, training, and consultation services, he fosters greater awareness, critical understanding, and appropriate response in those who address some of the serious challenges of our times.

Dr. Quiñones-Rosado began his community work in a variety of social service positions in the early 1970s. Later, he served as executive director of a Latino community organization where he developed numerous innovative Latino-centered educational and cultural programs and social enterprises—including ilé, co-founded in 1992 as the Institute for Latino Empowerment.

For twenty years, Raúl has designed and organized anti-oppression strategies, and provided leadership development opportunities in community and organizational settings. During this time, he has been part of a large network of antioppression educators and organizers in struggles against racism, sexism, colonialism, militarism and other forms of oppression. His involvement in social justice movements has ranged from training, coaching, and fundraising to public speaking, protesting and nonviolent civil disobedience.  More recently, Raúl has been increasingly involved in liberation spirituality, transpersonal psychology, and integral theory circles, seeking to create greater awareness and effective praxis that integrates self development and contemplative practice with social, economic, political and cultural transformation.

Raúl holds a doctorate in psychology, specializing in integral and liberation psychologies. He is trained in Psychosynthesis counseling, neurolinguistic psychology, and Reiki traditional healing. Raúl has been a meditation practitioner for over 30 years. He is author of the book, Consciousness-in-Action: Toward an Integral Psychology of Liberation & Transformation, and his writings appeared in academic, political, spiritual and professional publications.

Raúl lives with his partner and ilé co-founder, María I. Reinat-Pumarejo, and their son, Gabriel Hatuey, in Cayey, Puerto Rico.
